The curve works fine for level 0 to level 4, after that it's just a little meh.
And investing a lot of time and money into upgrading your team should feel a little more satisfying, instead of weakening. I don't want the game to become easy, but this just feels cheap. The occultists healing skill feels useless at this level (on a long mission he had only 2 double digit heals and he had alot of opportunities do show his healing skills) and it seems the enemy has crit chances around 30-40%. With my level 6 guys i miss more attacks than with the level 0 starting team. In general i'm not a fan of these kind of mechanics in rpg/rpg-like games. I enjoy the game very much too, but it feels like the more you level up and improve your party/equipment, the less powerfull you feel.

I find the difficulty to be tough but fair, and usually if something goes wrong it was something you could have prevented with proper planning (there will always be those runs where your ♥♥♥♥ gets wrecked but eh, part of the fun). When I first bought it a few weeks ago I played nothing else for a whole week.
